LIVING IN ISOLATION

Australia and the rest of the world are currently living in unknown territory with the terrible COVID-19 virus out there.  It is all we hear about and each day there are so many new developments, so lets hope there is a vaccine available sooner than they expect.

I live on a farm so isolation can be part of everyday life, it's not that hard to do, we just probably don't think of it as isolation in normal circumstances.  It really is part of many rural peoples lives... I only live 20km out of town, the closest neighbour is about 8km down the road and to me that is part of our farming lifestyle that we love so much.  Living on a farm we are very lucky to have big wide open spaces which is something I will always cherish and appreciate and never take for granted.  What has just become very isolating is that Western Australia (where we live) has introduced regional boarders, so this means our large state has been split into regions and we cannot travel out of the area we reside in, which for me is the Wheatbelt!  So we cannot go to Perth or any other regions!  To me this feels very suffocating, like a big wall has been erected around us!! I do however completely understand the governments reasoning behind this mammoth decision in the hope to contain and flatten the curve of this virus and to help maintain the spread to other regions..   It is one thing to "self isolate", it is another to be told where you have to do this..  I know we will miss the small things like Fremantle coffees, it is something we really look forward too when in the "big smoke", even if it had to be a takeaway!

Our children are attending school and uni from home, our cafes, restaurants and pubs have all had to close with some offering take away coffee and food.... many, many retail shops have shut their doors and say they are  "closed for now", gyms and sporting clubs have shut too along with much more.

We are such social beings so the holt on not being able to do anything is taking a little adjusting.. you can't see friends, no going out for dinner, no coffee catch ups, no social gatherings..  We are all trying to get creative with virtual catch ups and silly humorous pictures in chats, so maybe we will get used to our new way of socialising?!

On the brighter side of the pandemic we are living in it is comforting to have the kids home from boarding school and city living, it is really nice just being able to hang out as a family (not sure if our girls would entirely agree with this, I know they are missing their friends and social life A LOT)..  it has been satisfying to get out in the garden and get some of those jobs done that tend to go on the back burner, and with everyone home there has been extra cooking and baking which is always a treat when you don't have to cook everything all the time.

Any events we had booked in have been postponed and cancelled but our online shop is still open so if you are looking for a new pair of Greek sandals, a gorgeous tote, beach bag, clutch, or one of our very popular thermo insulated bags then we have a great range for you to choose from.  We also have gift vouchers so your special person can choose what they love (you just need to message me to organise this).

Remember to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest, and hopefully you look forward to seeing our posts throughout the week which give you a little inspiration and maybe a welcoming distraction.

Stay safe, stay connected and self isolate the best you can.  I know we are all looking forward to coming out the other side. In the meantime enjoy your families and being at home together.
